TagSense Leaves Photo-Sharers With Nowhere to Hide

Graduate Ph.D. students at Duke University and the University of South Carolina have developed a phone app that tags details of photos. And while TagSense might not excite the Photoshop crew, the app does have one remarkable central feature: it tags photo details such as name, location, and activity—automatically. TagSense uses a smartphone’s sensors to determine information such as sound, location, and light to “sense the setting of a photograph and describe its attributes,” says TG Daily’s Kate Taylor. This includes whether a person in a photo is laughing or quiet. While TagSense is only a prototype, it will definitely pique the interest of social networkers looking to better personalize and share their real-world experiences online. The researchers, Chuan Qin and Xuan Bao, say a commercial product could be on the market in a few years. Read more at TG Daily.
