Google Exec Calls Facial Recognition “Creepy” but Warns Regulators About Stifling Innovation

Eric Schmidt, speaking at Google’s “Big Tent” conference on internet privacy, said he’s concerned about the surprising accuracy of facial recognition technology, writes Matt Warman for The Telegraph. Apparently, Schmidt said Google was unlikely to build a database capable of recognizing individual faces even though it is increasingly possible. Indeed, a recent TechySpot post discusses Google’s Picasa picture manager, which already does an amazing job of recognizing people from pictures saved on your PC.
