Pity the plight of BeamItDown, maker of the iFlow e-reader app for iOS. The company sells e-books, at prices set by publishers, and keeps 30 percent of the purchase price. Then along comes Apple’s new market policy requiring in-app sales to pay Apple a commission of…30 percent. With literally no way left to make a buck, BeamItDown was forced to shut down, taking the iFlow reader with it. It did so, with some very nasty things to say about Apple and its new policy.
