Though its seems a bit suspect, we won’t comment on the confluence of events that might spell the end of Bitcoin, the open-source, peer-to-peer digital currency. Venture Beat is reporting that Mt. Gox, a popular Bitcoin exchange was hacked, just a little over a week after U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Joe Manchin pressed Attorney General Eric Holder and the DEA to move on the company, amid allegations that the digital currency is being used to support black market drug trade. Senators Urge Crackdown on Digital Currency

It’s been said that supermodel Gisele Bundchen once demanded to be paid in Euros when the U.S. dollar began sliding. If it’s true, then maybe she was on to something. According to Tom Cheredar at Venture Beat,  the threat of a digital currency like Bitcoin competing with other national currencies could become real.
