Apple Takes Top Spot on 2011 Brand List

For four years Google has ranked No. 1 as the world’s most powerful brand, according to the Millward Brown’s Brandz study. Millward Brown is company that does an annual study of the top global brands. This year, Apple stole the top spot from Google and there’s one main reason for that: “It is really the iPad that has driven Apple’s growing brand value although the iPhone has continued to do magnificently too,” says Peter Walshe, global Brandz director at Millward Brown. AirDrop Bracing for Battle with Apple

It’s great news when you hear that Apple has plans to release another one of its nifty gadgets, but what if you realize the gadget has the same name as one of your products? Yikes! Christiaan Rendle and his partner, Mirko Kiric developed and began selling the iPhone game AirDrop PRO in August 2009. With more than 400,000 downloads at 99 cents a pop, the pair are now working on the second version of the app. The problem is Apple has a summer release date of its new file-transferring utility, which is called AirDrop.
