If you have a Microsoft Kinect and a good idea for a new way to use it, you might be able to turn it into a business.
Microsoft has announced a program that will help ten people launch businesses around products for Kinect, the controller that senses motion and voice.
Developers with Kinect applications for the Xbox or Windows are invited to apply to the Kinect Accelerator program, which is supported by TechStars, the organization that mentors technology start-ups and offers them seed funding from a group of venture capital investors.
If you win, you’ll spend three months in Seattle and receive technical training and support from entrepreneurs, investors and Microsoft executives. And if that’s not enough to tempt you, there’s also a $20,000 check involved. At the end of the program, the companies will present their business ideas to angel investors, venture capitalists and the media to possibly garner additional funding.
You can apply to the program through January 25.
