TeamViewer Launches Beta Version 7

It wasn’t all that long ago that getting technical support meant clicking around your machine while someone—possibly in another country—blindly tried to coach you on the telephone regarding what to do. Worse was the other option of paying to actually get your computer into the hands of a tech wizard.

Those days are fading into memory thanks to all sorts of solutions that enable people access and control computers remotely.  LogMeIn, Splashtop, GoToMyPC, PocketCloud and Google’s new Chrome Remote Desktop are several options you may be familiar with.

TeamViewer, another popular choice, is trying to stand apart from that crowd by introducing an upgraded version of its Windows-based software that adds a robust online meeting solution to its remote access product. TeamViewer 7 Beta now lets you collaborate with up to two dozen other people remotely and do things like share screens and files and use a virtual white board. Presenters can now pause, stop and record meetings and participants can join from smartphones, tablets, or computers and can be alerted to meetings through e-mail or Microsoft Outlook invitations that provide a one-click URL.
