Not exactly the message Bank of America wants to convey to the social media world, but that’s what its branded Google+ page said on Tuesday ^[1]. The page appeared to have been created by hackers who fooled Google+ into giving them BofA’s page name, less than two weeks after branded pages were launched.

After Sophos reported on the fake page, Google has removed the offending content and handed the page in question over to the real bank. It’s also added a “verified name” check mark to the page. That seems like an excellent idea to us, but very few of the brands with Google+ pages have them, at least not yet.
