When you think about online collaboration, popular options such as Basecamp, Chatter or Google Docs likely come to mind. But there’s another rising star in the space garnering the attention of investors and customers alike for not only letting people work with others online regardless of physical location, but also offering other interesting features. Irvine, Calif.-based Mavenlink just raised $3.9 million to accelerate the development of its project management platform and says it now has more than 100,000 users and is getting 15,000 new ones a month.
Its popularity likely stems from what it offers in one product—not only does Mavenlink include standard project management, file sharing and online collaboration, it also handles time tracking, invoicing, and expense tracking.
Paying Mavenlink subscribers can get paid by clients through a PayPal integration for only $.50 per invoice. Users of the free product pay a bit more—a $5 flat fee payment instead of PayPal’s standard 3.9%. If you don’t use PayPal you can still log offline payments in the workspace.
In addition, Mavenlink also gives independent consultants and small firms preferred group rates and access to benefits such as health, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as discounted rates and access to retirement planning and disability.
As for pricing, you can use the platform for free and get 500MB of storage or pay $39 or $79 to get more storage and features.
