
What’s the difference between Google and Facebook?
Google focuses on algorithms, Facebook focuses on people. So says Sheryl Sandberg, formerly vice president of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google, and now Facebook’s COO. Google, she says is all about machine learning, which they happen to be really good at. Whereas Facebook cares more about “who are you, what do you want to do and what do you want to share, rather than on what machine-based data can offer.”
Sandberg made her comments when she and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg were interviewed on PBS by Charlie Rose. In another difference, the pair noted, Facebook wants to do one thing well, compared with the ever-more-diversified Google.
