U.S. Smart Phone Adoption Rates Increasing

It used to be that mobile adoption was considered the purview of the very young and hip. But a recent Nielsen [1] report shows that adults in the 25-44 age range have the highest adoption rates of any user demographic.
And while this might be interesting news, there’s more: despite the high adoption rates, mobile penetration in the U.S. is at 77 percent, lower than it is in many other developed countries. Additionally, although the market is inundated with smart phone options, only 43 percent of users actually have a smart phone. And it’s unlikely that the market will reach 50 percent smart phone adoption by the end of year, as industry experts had predicted.
So, does this mean that when it comes to the mobile space, the U.S. is essentially an emerging market?
