Watch out, Facebook [1] and Twitter [2]. You’ve got some new competition. It’s…Chime.in.
The new social-media platform will let users create “Chimes.” These are images, videos, polls, and links that you can cross-post to Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ [3]. You can sort Chimes by interests, who shared them, popularity, and date. You follow Chimers, like Twitter. There’s some hope for the new company, since its creator, UberMedia [4], has already explored the sector, creating UberSocial [5], a Twitter app.
Chime.in hopes to attract business from the start, in a way that other social-media sites haven’t. It promises high monetization, allowing current publishers like Universal [6], Bravo [7], and Disney [8] to receive 100 percent of ad revenues. Those publishers will receive 50 percent of any ads UberMedia places for the publisher.
