A Real Apology from RIM: Free Apps and Tech Support

After you screw up, you apologize. To sweeten the deal, you might give a gift. That’s how Research in Motion [1] is playing it, after millions [2] of customers lost e-mail and BlackBerry Messenger service last week.

RIM will make the apps available for free over the next few weeks in the BlackBerry App World. Worth about $100 together, the apps will be available until the end of the year.  The featured apps include iSpeech Translator, Bejeweled, and Texas Hold’em Poker 2. RIM’s enterprise customers will receive a free month of technical support.

The real question, if another piece of mysterious equipment malfunctions, who will RIM call for technical support?
