
After taking a beating for a lack of innovation, RIM has set out to fix that. It’s bought NewBay, a premium cloud-based content provider, for $100 million.
RIM has been mute on any official reason for the purchase. You can assume that NewBay’s technology, which lets users store and share content through the cloud, will go toward cloud-based technology . BlackBerry email storage perhaps? NewBay’s LifeCache software is already used by mobile carriers, like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.
