With Many Web Opportunities, Homes Nixing Cable Will Triple by 2016

As more former TV and movie viewers head online to consume video, the number of U.S. households without traditional cable service will triple by 2016, according to a new report from Magnaglobal [1], a media forecasting firm.
With the market for online video expanding further in this five-year period, about 9 million households will forgo cable subscription. About 44 percent are “cord cutters:” Former cable subscribers who get ride of their subscription. But the majority — around 5 million — will be current teenagers who will never subscribe to cable.
