Sony Close to Film Rights for Jobs Biography

Sony is in final talks to buy the movie rights to the soon-to-be-released Steve Jobs biography [1]. Jobs authorized the book, and it was written by former Time magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson. The biography was originally set to debut in November, but its publisher, Simon & Schuster, moved up the publication date to Oct. 24 following Jobs’ death last week.The studio will pay about $1 million for the film rights. Sony won big on the last biopic on a tech god: The Social Network won Oscars, made nearly $100 million domestically, and turned its young cast into superstars.
