Have you ever bought an app for your iPhone and later thought that was a waste of $.99? Soon you may not have to buy an app without the ability of trying it first.

According to TechCrunch, Apple might be working on a way for users to give iOS apps a test drive before they pay full price and no-jailbreaking (aka iOS app piracy) is required. Self-dubbed iOS Hacker Sonny Dickson, discovered a string of code within the latest iTunes Beta that indicates apps will have a “rental period” and that will be automatically deleted after said period runs out.

While this code indicates a solution to one problem, it may also create another. If an app is $.99, how much do you charge to rent it? $.05? $.10? And how long will rental period for apps be? Will app developers get to choose the length and cost of app rentals?

I’m not sure I like this concept. As an app developer, how will this workout for us? Will we be able to do this for all Apple products? I don’t think Apple would make as much money if they were to rent out apps. Sure the consumer might like it, but what about us little guys who need every penny of every dollar to succeed?
