
HP may have a buyer for its webOS division: Amazon. The two companies are in “serious negotiations” over the deal. Amazon already made headlines worldwide with the release of its tablet computer, the Kindle Fire. Tech analysts have already declared the closest thing out there to an iPad-killer, and debate has raged over what the Fire will mean to iPad sales. Obviously, Amazon’s addition of an entire division devoted to mobile-operating system could change the game further.
HP has been shopping for a buyer over the last few weeks, ever since it announced that it would end webOS production after the disastrous results of its tablet, the TouchPad. You know, the device that needed a fire sale to move off shelves.
We know Amazon is a fan of low pricing, but fire sales? Probably not.
