For most household, the upfront cost of installing solar panels is prohibitive. Government subsidies and low-cost loans can help, but both are disappearing in this era of budget shortfalls. Google and Clean Power Finance are teaming up with solar installers to solve the upfront investment problem by renting solar panels to homeowners for a monthly fee.
In our household, after coming close to investing in solar panels, we held off because the rapid pace of innovation made us reluctant to commit to a large installation when something smaller and better might be right around the corner. Google’s move solves that problem too. Brilliant!
