The economy and job creation are the hot button issues. And a new study from the University of Maryland, shows that the Facebook App Economy has added new jobs and contributed in wages and benefits to the U.S. economy.

What is the “Facebook App Economy”? According to the study, Facebook users install 20 million applications a day. The Facebook App Economy are the new jobs that have been created in software companies that make applications for the Facebook platform.  As well as, “jobs created as a result of household spending based on the income earned by employees at both app developers and businesses supplying app developers.”

All those hours spent on Facebook may not be such a big waste of time if it is spurring the economy and job market.
