According to tech pundit and blogger Robert Scoble, Google will be launching a new product that will compete with the wildly popular Flipboard iPad app. “My source says that the versions he’s seen so far are mind-blowing good,” he wrote on his Google+ page.

Kara Swisher, writing for All Things D, reports that “According to numerous sources close to the situation, Google is indeed working on rolling out the new product, which is currently called Propeller.”

When Google will launch Propeller is unclear, but sources say it’s one of a number of new social announcements Google will be making.

Google had unsuccessfully tried last year to buy Flipboard, which is a slick app for reading news, articles and the posts and links shared by friends and followers on your social networks. Now, it appears to be working on its own version.

While it’s not clear what Google’s Propeller will include, sources say it will be available on both Apple’s iPad and Google’s Android tablets.
