Wantlet Lets Shoppers Compare Store Inventories

There are tons of comparison shopping sites online, each promising its own “unique” way of helping consumers. But sometimes, wading through ratings, reviews, and opinions can be a pain, when all you really want to know is: Can I get the product? Wantlet, a new social shopping site, clears up the info clutter by letting users search the inventories of nearby stores.

The company has raised nearly $1 million in funding and is connected to roughly 50,000 retailers’ internal ERP services; this lets consumers get quick and accurate answers to questions about product availability, pricing, etc. According to Wantlet founder Erno Tauriainen, the conversion rate is about 50 times higher than for pay-per-click programs like Google’s, for example.
