Well, it’s not exactly the Kraken, but Verizon is set to reveal a $50 unlimited prepaid plan this week. The plan, called “Unleashed” will include unlimited talk, text, and web.
“Unleashed” is not exactly new, though: Verizon launched it in limited markets back in April but will now offer it to customers in Verizon stores, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Still, the new price reflects consumers’ cost concerns as well as intense competition in the marketplace.
Verizon’s new offering represents a nearly $45 difference when compared with its unlimited talk and text prepaid plan, which runs $94.99 per month. Unleashed is also competitively priced with similar offerings from AT&T ($50), Virgin Mobile ($55), MetroPCS ($45), and Boost Mobile ($50).
