Twitter Not Flattered by Facebook Imitation

Twitter [1] seems to think that Facebook has a serious case of Single White Female. This week, just after Facebook launched its iOS update, Twitter mobile designer Byran Haggerty noticed that the social networking site’s app looked remarkably similar to Twitter’s.
Facebook’s seeming flattery left Haggerty none too pleased. He tweeted the following:
“Seriously Facebook? http://pic.twitter.com/0ifNsdY [2]”
He then followed up with: “Ok Facebook, enough with the flattery. http://pic.twitter.com/vSyHdpH [3].”
Is it bald-face copying? While on the surface it might appear so, ZDNet’s Emil Protalinski says the design similarity might have more to do with the iOS standard constructs than with blatant copying. Apple standardizes such features as placement, sizing, and icon colors, for example.
