The bill dictates specific data-storage rules and security protocols. Any violators would face significant fines.
Some might argue that companies suffer enough after a data breach — embarrassment, hassle, and angry customers. Regardless, looks like it’s time to pony up some cash for security upgrades or face senatorial wrath.
