Gamers, you can now go portable. Hardcore gaming hardware manufacturer Razer [1] has just released its Blade–the Razer Blade, get it?– laptop, a light (6.97 lbs.) and thin (0.88 inches) knee-sitter that still delivers the power and speed necessary to operate modern immersive games with a smooth visual experience.
Let’s check out the specs: The Blade runs on a second-gen Intel Core i7 2640M Processor running at 2.8GHz (that gets bumped up to 3.5 GHz with Turbo Boost); there’s 8GB of DDR3 memory and 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory (supporting DirectX 11); Bluetooth 3.0; graphics are handled by a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M GPU with NVIDIA Optimus Technology that swaps in integrated graphics when performance isn’t needed to save battery life; storage is handled via 320GB 7200rpm SATA HDD.
Possibly the most interesting feature is the “Switchblade User Interface” that sits to the right of the full keyboard. This is a Razer original, a multi-touch LCD display with “ten fully customizable, dynamic, adaptive phyiscal game command keys” that can can also display in-game information, according to Gizmag [2]. The machine also sports a hi-def webcam and all-aluminum chassis.
The Razer Blade will be available in the U.S. by the end of the year for $2,800.
