Cisco Acquires Versly, an Office Collaboration Start-Up

The firm will integrate the software into its various offerings, including WebEx.

Cisco has moved back into its comfort zone with the acquisition of Versly, an Office collaboration start-up. In April, Cisco shuttered its Flip video camera unit, whose consumer focus always seemed an odd fit for the corporate-friendly company.

Details of the purchase have not been disclosed. Versly lets groups collaborate on documents created in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and email. Cisco plans to roll it into products such as WebEx and Jabber. Versly could also be a good fit for future content management solutions.

Versly’s 10-member team of veteran software developers will also join Cisco.
