Amazon’s Tablet May Premiere Early 2012

Amazon’s 10-inch tablet won’t be in stores until after the holidays, according to [1]Digitimes [1]. The Taiwanese site cites “sources from upstream component suppliers.” The report says that the company plans to have a version of its tablet with a seven-inch screen out by October, priced at around $300.
Production of the 10-inch model will begin in the first quarter of 2012, DigiTimes reports.
For the moment, the iPad retains its hold on the tablet market. HP’s TouchPad flopped, until they adopted a liquidation plan [2] one step removed from handing devices out on street corners. The Amazon tablet is expected to price in somewhere below [3] the iPad, and HP’s misfire seems to indicate that there is a market for tablets with the capabilities of an iPad at a lower price.
