Amazon Could Sell 3-5 Million Tablets in Q4

Forrester Research says Amazon could "disrupt" the tablet market.

Everyone is focused on Apple’s battle with Samsung in the tablet wars, but according to researchers at Forrester, Amazon will be the “only credible iPad competitor in the market.” Further, according to the research firm, an Amazon tablet would “disrupt the status quo.” Strong words, indeed.

Forrester analyst Sarah Rottman Epps notes that Amazon has a lot going for it, and could sell between three and five million tablets in the fourth quarter of this year.  She says the company’s willingness to sell devices at a loss, coupled with brand recognition, cloud infrastructure, and commerce assets—among other factors—paint a rosy picture for Amazon’s success in the marketplace.

Still, all of the predictions might come to naught, since Amazon has not said it will release a tablet.
