More and more people are using social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter, but young women are leading the pack. Sixty-five percent of Internet users are now on social networking websites, up from 29 percent in 2008, according to a new survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
Interestingly, Pew found 70 percent of women use social networking, compared to 60 percent of men and called younger women the “power users” of such websites.
This survey marked the first time that more than half of respondents use social networking. Pew also found that social networking sites are just behind email and search engines when it comes to what activities users are doing on the web.
