Facebook Adds Photo Filters to Mobile App

To compete with Instagram [1], a photo-sharing application, Facebook [2] is adding filters to its mobile application in the coming months.
According to The New York Times [3], Facebook has been prepared to launch the new feature but CEO Mark Zuckerberg was holding off on releasing it until its engineers and artists created more filters. There will be nearly a dozen photo filters, some of which are similar to Instagram’s and others that are much different.
Instagram has grown to have eight million users since its debut about a year ago and raised $7 million in funding in February. Sources told [3] The Times that Facebook tried to acquire Instagram, but was unsuccessful.
