What could you do with a handful of one-inch cube computers?

Perhaps lots of things. At least, that’s the hope behind Sifteo and its new hot cubes which come in sets of three for $149. The appealing-looking cubes can be used for a variety of fun games, but the MIT Media Lab grads who created them believe they may become much more.

They were inspired by a view of the future with ubiquitous computing delivered by walls, pads, and tabs. Walls are already in evidence, at CNN for instance, and tablets are, well, everywhere. The Sifteo folks envision tabs as the final step and believe these little computers can act as active post-it notes and replace…well everything small we look to for information, from a book spine to an ID badge to a Post-It note.
