
Malware for mobile devices is striking more frequently, and Android devices are the prime targets, according to a report released by Internet security company McAfee. The number of attacks on mobile platforms is growing, the company’s second quarter threats report said, with attacks on Android devices growing 76 percent over last quarter. The McAfee report said that Apple’s iOS did not have any second-quarter attacks.
The Android platform does not carefully review applications, and while most users have not yet been afflicted by malware attacks, that number of users who are may rise. A report from late June by Internet security company Symantec found that while both Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platform are less susceptible to malware attacks than desktop computers, both platforms are vulnerable.
