Kickstarter’s PadPivot Goes Into Production

Crowdfunding start-up Kickstarter can add another item to its growing list of successes: The PadPivot , easily one of the best and most versatile tablet stands ever invented, will finally be hit the market in September, and will be sold in Best Buy and Future Shop retailers.
The pocket-portable PadPivot, created by Seattle’s own Jim Young and Bernie Graham, works on hard surfaces like tables and desks, but also comfortably rests on your thigh for easy browsing or watching videos. This versatility is made possible by the rubber grip on the bottom of the PadPivot, which allows users to view any tablet or e-reader from any angle. The accessory easily exceeded its $10,000 funding goal on Kickstarter by raising $190,352. The PadPivot will likely be sold for around $39.99.
Kickstarter has been an excellent platform to make small projects into realities. As funding trickles in, designers can change their product based on feedback, as well as test the market with pledges—the equivalent of pre-orders—so retailers can accurately gauge prospective buyer interest.
