America, According to Social Media

An infographic using social media data explains American habits online and otherwise.

Americans love their social networks. More than half of all Americans have a profile on at least one social networking site, and 70 percent of active users in the U.S. log onto their social network daily. But what else can social media tell us about our habits or tendencies?

Social media strategy firm Hasai created an infographic using social media data that draws several conclusions about the nature and behaviors of the average American. For instance, we love talking about TV (77 percent of people have used social media to discuss their love for a particular show), we’re obsessed with celebrities and royalty (65 percent of social media related to the royal wedding came from the U.S.—only 20 percent came from the U.K.), and we love brand names (four out of every 10 Americans follow products or brands on social media).
