Software developers love to sneak in fun little “Easter eggs,” or hidden messages, into whatever projects they’re working on. As it turns out, developers at Apple and Microsoft love to code discrete in-jokes just as much as the next guys.
Business Insider collected 22 of the best Easter eggs hidden in Mac and Windows software, including political statements, cookie recipes, references to old commercials, and hidden games. One Easter egg even displays a list of 365 significant events—one for each day of the year—by entering a specific code in Apple’s Terminal application.
Often times, Easter eggs are hidden in plain sight, but they’re usually too small to notice unless one goes searching for them.
