Subscription and kiosk services brighten a dark quarter for Hollywood.

Hollywood entertainment sales declined over the last quarter, according to a report by Digital Entertainment Group. Sales of DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and other packaged goods declined by 16.3 percent. Digital rentals showed meager growth, 0.29 percent. The only significant positive growth was seen in the area of DVD-by-mail and video-on-demand services, which grew by 24 percent.

The report seems to demonstrate that Netflix’s subscriptions and Redbox’s kiosks are Hollywood’s best bets right now. But even Netflix has said that its expects subscriber growth to slow over the third quarter. The company says it anticipates 700,000 new domestic subscribers over that period, a sizeable drop from the 1.8 million new domestic subscribers over that same period last year.

    Blockbuster should show
more growth then any of them because they now offer the best deals. They offer
a Total Access plan for $9.99/mo with a one disc rental at a time per month or
a $14.99/mo for two discs at a time. With Blockbuster I have over 100,000
titles to choose from and unlimited movies TV shows and games. I over heard a
co-worker saying that new DISH Network customers can now get 3 months free of
Blockbuster by mail rental with no due dates or late fees. Check this link out http://bit.ly/kzed79.
