Online tutoring company EducateNcare is using knowledge for good: a portion of the cost of each tutoring session goes directly to the education of children in developing countries.
The core of the certified B company’s service revolves around a network of teachers and college students who interact one-on-one with students in recorded online sessions, allowing students and parents to review later. From there, 25 percent of the tutor’s profit is sent to EducateNcare’s office. After operating costs, which vary depending on the tutor’s rate, the rest of the money is put into their global education initiative.
To date, EducateNcare has conducted 800 online tutoring sessions and matched them with 800 lessons in developing countries. The company works with communities to strengthen the sustainability of the education services offered, giving children with very little educational tools the schooling they need. One of the company’s first projects, EducateNcare funded an entire computer lab in Guajarat, India.
In addition to the online tutoring sessions, half of the proceeds from the sales of the company’s two mobile apps help Pencils for Promise build a preschool in Guatemala.
