Aussies will have to do without Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 ^[1] until the South Korean company resolves its latest patent dispute with Apple. The tablet infringes on ten Apple patents, the suit alleges. Samsung has suspended advertisements for its product as the suit pends. Apple has agreed to pay an undisclosed amount in damages should it be found that Samsung’s tablet does not infringe on its patents.

Apple’s claim is based on the U.S. version of the tablet, which Samsung attorneys claim is different from the version of the product that will be sold in Australia. The Australian version of the tablet will be provided to Apple seven days before the date of distribution to give adequate time for the iPad manufacturer’s review.

This is not the first legal tiff between Samsung and Apple. A suit filed ^[2] by Apple in South Korea claimed infringement on smartphone and tablet patents in that country. Samsung has countersued, going to court in Seoul in April to claim that Apple had infringed on a number of its patents.
