Webmasters, take note: Google just released the latest addition to its Page Speed family: Page Speed Service [1], which the company says may be able to increase the speed at which your web pages load from 25-60 percent. According to Google’s Webmaster Central Blog, the service grabs content from your servers, rewrites your pages by applying web performance best practices, and serves them to end users via Google’s servers across the globe. To use it you just need to sign up and point your site’s DNS entry to Google.
“Your users will continue to access your site just as they did before, only with faster load times. Now you don’t have to worry about concatenating CSS, compressing images, caching, zipping resources or other web performance best practices,” writes Google Engineering Manager Ram Ramani.
Google, which hasn’t announced pricing yet, is currently offering the service to a limited set of webmasters for free. To request access, use this web form [2].
