The growth of Google+ may be slowing. Web tracking firm Experian Hitwise has reported that total visits to Google’s new social network fell about 3 percent to 1.79 million in the U.S. for the week ending July 23 compared to the week before when visits had risen 283 percent. People also spent less time at Google+ last week, with the average amount declining 10 percent to 5 minutes and 15 seconds.
That said, Mashable’s Todd Wasserman quotes a spokesperson for Experian Hitwise who said, “This is not a huge drop.”
Google+ has been steadily growing since its June 28 debut. In fact, as of last week the network had an estimated 20 million users, even though some of them complained last weekend about a surge in deleted accounts due to Google’s real name policy. In response, Google admitted on Monday it had made a few mistakes and vowed to communicate better with people in the suspension process.
