Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook says the phenomenal success of the iPad has come at some expense to the Mac side of the business, with some customers purchasing tablets instead of laptops.
But it’s not all bad news. “We also believe that even more customers chose to purchase an iPad over a Windows PC,” Cook says. In any case, the huge popularity of iPads means Apple is selling them as quickly as it can ship them, he said.
It’s all helped drive Apple profits and share prices to record highs in the second quarter of 2011.
