Vokle Adds DVD-style Playback Features to Video Conferencing Platform

Tech start-up Vokle [1] has added some new features to its video conferencing platform. Vokle is a live video broadcasting platform that lets users live stream and broadcast video to a virtual room. Viewers can post live text and video questions to the broadcaster, giving the service a real “town hall” feel, notes TechCrunch’s Rip Empson.

Vokle’s new features let broadcasters access recordings ten to twenty minutes after an event; additionally, because Vokle treats viewer questions as “chapters,” users can skip ahead to specific questions that were asked. This makes the experience more akin to watching a DVD, notes Empson.

The start-up’s prospects seem pretty bright, especially after closing a round of seed funding in back in April. Still, with Google rolling out projects such a Plus, Vokle will need to move quickly to stay competitive. Competition will come not only from UStream [2] or GoToMeeting [3], but also from Google [4], which can simply add Hangouts to Google Plus and call it a day.
