For Foursquare users, the site’s “Specials” just got better. The company announced Tuesday it would expand its “foursquare Specials” to now include “Deals” from LivingSocial, Gilt City, zozi, BuyWithMe and AT&T Interactive. Sources told the Wall Street Journal that the site is also negotiating an arrangement with Groupon.
Features of the deals include personalized recommendations based on where users and their friends have checked in through the “Explore” tab of the site, as well as simple purchasing that allows customers to buy deals without leaving the application.
Foursquare hopes the deal will not only prove popular with its 10 million users, but it will turn around necessary revenue. Unlike its Specials, foursquare will take a cut of the revenues made by its partners through the Deals.
