Apple Says It Will Fix iOS Malware Exploit

Germany is issuing another warning. This time, though, it has nothing to do with a debt crisis. This recent Achtung, released by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) says that Apple ’s iPhone, iPads, and iPod Touch devices are vulnerable to malware delivered via PDF. Devices running versions up to iOS 4.3.3. could be at risk if users click on the infected file, giving a hacker administrator privileges and thus access to data such as passwords, banking information, and even the built-in camera.
Apple has responded to the news, saying the company is “developing a fix that will be available to customers in an upcoming software update,” reports PCMag.com’s Chloe Albanesius. However, when Apple plans to release the fix is still unknown.
While Android users have grown somewhat accustomed to their frequent dose of malware and subsequent patches, Apple device users have typically felt a measure of security (whether real or imagined). But as the German warning shows, this could quickly change.
