Mozilla Labs Launches ‘Web Activities’ Project

How would you like your apps to anticipate your needs? Who wouldn’t, right? Mozilla Labs [1] has launched what looks to be two promising new features. Currently developer focused, Web Activities lets web applications talk to each other; and an as-yet-unnamed feature simplifies app discovery and download.
A peek at Web Activities shows that the app follows the concept of “web intents,” conceived by Google Developer Advocate Paul Kinlan [2], notes TechCrunch’s Jason Kincaid. Essentially, Web Activities allows apps to communicate in a “standardized language” without requiring API integration. Mozilla is working with Google’s Chrome team on this project.
The second project will help users discover and download available web apps by displaying a small pop-up notification on the site they are visiting.
