Groupon and Expedia Get You There More Cheaply

Daily deals site Groupon ^[1] and travel planning site Expedia ^[2] launched their joint venture today, a travel deals service called Groupon Getaways ^[1] that will offer discounts on hotel rooms, flights, and other services offered through Expedia.

Whether or not this partnership will help Groupon corner the travel deals market, which has already been explored in limited ways by flash deal sites like Gilt Groupe, is yet to be seen. This morning, Groupon Getaways was offering a deal on a stay at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, a stay at Vermont’s Pointe Hotel, and a Tahitian vacation package.
