Last week, American Express and Facebook announced that they will allow holders of Membership Rewards points to redeem those points for advertisements on the popular social networking site.

The new program is aimed primarily at American Express OPEN cardholders. Small business owners will be able to take out $50 of Facebook advertising for every $6,750 spent on their American Express.

This is American Express’ second pairing with a social networking site in the past month. The credit card company announced a partnership with Foursquare earlier in June. Foursquare users and American Express cardholders can check in at retailers to have discounts on purchases applied to their accounts.
