Firm Works to Make 3D Printing Affordable

A Dutch company called Freedom of Creation wants to bring 3D printing to you.

Ten years ago, when Janne Kyttanen wanted to start a company offering 3D printing priced for the average consumer, he was laughed down. Now, his company Freedom of Creation is considered one of the best in the world for consumer-friendly 3D products.

Until recently, 3D printing was a pricey technology used mostly to manufacture medical and industrial products. High quality 3D printing has grown significantly as an industry since Kyttanen first entered the game. There were 40,000 3D printers in the world two years ago, Kyttanen said, but he predicts that number will hit 100,000 by the end of this year. He hopes that the spread of the technology will lead to more printing companies and lower prices.

    Freedom of Creation do a fantastic job of making highly resolved 3D printed products but not at the cheapest price point, I understand you pay for their design expertise and understanding of the 3D printing process.
