
Mea culpa! That’s the word from former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who in an interview at the D9 Conference took responsibility for Google’s crippling lateness to the world of social media.
“I clearly knew I had to do something and I failed to do it,” he elaborated. “I screwed up.”
He added that Google had hoped to partner with Facebook, a company whose success he admires. In other unexpected commentary, he added that the “Gang of Four” most influential tech companies includes Facebook, Apple, Google, and…Amazon.
And what of the 90-pound gorilla not mentioned in that list?
Microsoft “is not driving the consumer revolution in the minds of consumers,” he said.
